The process of splitting Water to Hydrogen and Oxygen is called electrolysis. Electrolysis happens due to electricity passing through Water from 2 nodes , the positive and Negative. The energy required to electrolise is acquired from the car battery which you already have. After the electrolysis the gas is passed on to the Engine to Burn as a fuel.
Hydrogen is one of the most efficient fuels as it burns better than Petrol or Diesel. Unfortunately its hard to store Hydrogen. In this case , we do not store Hydrogen at all. Its generated on the run and is supplemental to your Gas. This means you will be saving More than 50% of your fuel Consumption just by running it on water.
