To better understand how to read music, maybe it is best to first ask ourselves. Playing instruments is a good experience, and good thing too. Piano reading is not as hard as it looks. Learning how to read piano notes is about learning a pattern ,as many things are in music. Music is an art of producing significant arrangements of sounds.
Basic steps to read piano:
There’s a “musical alphabet” that’s quite a bit shorter than the English one. It starts at A and ends at G. Then it repeats. For example: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, etc.

You need to learn about 2 “clefs.” They are signs which basically tell you whether to play high notes or low notes. They are the Treble Clef and Bass Clef.

You play the notes in the treble clef with your right hand. These are the higher notes. Play the notes in the bass clef with your left hand. These are the lower notes.

In most contemporary sheet music you will see the music will be written on either the treble clef staff:

Spaces (Treble Clef) – The letters denoting the spaces on the treble clef form the word – FACE wherein F is the lowest space situated on the treble clef, and the E note is the highest.

Lines (Treble Clef) – The letters on the lines ranging from lowest to highest are - E G B D F. that aptly denotes the saying - “Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge.” If you do not find any of the given sayings appropriate, you are free to make one as per your choice. Note that the lowest line – E – is subsequent to the lowest space –F.

* Spaces (Bass Clef) – The saying, “All Cows Eat Grass.” is apt for the bass clef spaces.
* Lines (Bass Clef) – For lines in the bass clef you can use the saying - “Great Big Ducks Fly Away.”

Music is written on lines and spaces – this is called the staff. When going up through the musical alphabet (like A, B, C, D), you alternate
line – space – line – space. For example: A = line, B = space, C = line, D = space. Bass cleffs are the lower line and the treble clef is the higher lines.
